Homer Public Library
As the federal government continues reducing its scope of operations, patrons have asked how the changes affect services at the Homer Public Library. As of April 11, 2025, all regular services remain available.
Homer Public Library is partnering with The Porcupine Theater to offer FREE MOVIE PASSES.
Each week the library will have a limited number of free movie passes available for library card holders. Available first-come, first-served each Saturday morning at 10am at the library! Passes are valid from day of issue through the following Friday night. Limit 1 pass per library card per week.
Indigenous author Lily Tuzroyluke has been selected for the 2024-2026 Alaska Reads program, which brings Alaskans together through shared reading experiences. Her historical novel Sivulliq: Ancestor is set in 1890s Alaska, amid harrowing change for the Inupiaq people. As the Alaska Reads author, Tuzroyluke will visit libraries and communities across the state through 2026. Join us at the Homer Public Library for a reading and discussion!
Thursday, April 24 | 6:00 - 7:30pm | Homer Public Library Fireside Reading Lounge
Welcome to ten years of reading with the Lit Lineup! This reading challenge was created 10 years ago by Teresa Sundmark to inspire our community to read more. Prizes are generously funded by the Friends of the Homer Library.
Join our community-wide initiative to read fifteen books throughout the year. Anyone can participate, although the books were chosen with adults or mature teens in mind.
Resolve to read more in 2025!Each book you've read (and reported) enters you into a monthly drawing for a prize. Any person who reads and enters fifteen or more books by the end of the year will be eligible to win the grand prize!
Bring your questions, ideas, and lunch (if desired) for an informal conversation with a different Homer City Council Member each month.
Next Up: Bradley Parsons | April 15th, noon -1pm

The Friends of Homer Library (FHL) is partnering with the National Park Service to create a new community space in the 2.24 acre land parcel between the library and Poopdeck Trail. We hope to extend the library's mission beyond the limits of the physical building. We hope to maintain the character of the landscape while making use of its location within the city center to turn it into a cultural, educational, and recreational asset for the community.
